D.S.M Feedback
The feedback from Something More was good. They said the illustrations were strong and the idea was good. They said they liked how I narrowed down the idea to one sector of the council and how it modernised the attractions and made them more appealing to a younger audience. However they said I could of pushed the idea further and applied it to more things to make it a stronger branding. I have enjoyed this brief and it has made me realise that I like working with vectors and digital illustration.

Yaybahar by Gorkem Sen
I came across this video today of a guy that has created a new instrument. The Yaybahar is an electric-free, totally acoustic instrument designed by Gorkem Sen. The vibrations from the strings are transmitted via the coiled springs to the frame drums. These vibrations are turned into sound by the membranes which echo back and forth on the coiled springs. This results in an unique listening experience with an hypnotic surround sound.

Project 53

Today I have sent my portfolio to the design studio Project 53. They work in building branding across multiple channels and developing adaptive websites and tactile printwork. They are based in Leeds as well which will be useful for me. I really like the work they have created so I hope I can get a placement here.

Amazing Kinetic Sculptures by Bob Potts
“My work is the manifestation of ideas that come to me from the natural world.
The grace and form of all living things, and the way they interact leaves me in awe.”
Bob Potts has had quite a mixed path of life; being in the Navy, working as a carpenter’s apprentice, subcontracting for various artists, toured as with a professional string band (with fiddle in hand), and even building experimental racecars. Now, the 72 year-old has a selection of his private works from the last 20 years on display at the MB&F M.A.D Gallery in Geneva.

I find nature fascinating and think it's amazing how Potts has managed to create natural looking rhythmic movement

Buck animates the future of the internet
After listening to Johns feedback today about blogging thinks that are relevant and interesting to me, I came across this video that I found inspiring. I think it visualises the ideas of information being shared in a creative and clear way that shows how much impact the internet has had on society and the progression since it came about.

Crit 1
27/10/2014
Today we had our first group crit and I was wanted feedback for my Groove city website brief. The feedback I received was really useful and constructive.
I have applied some of the suggestions made in the crit. One suggestion was to include the year above the gig dates. I originally had social network links at the top and bottom of the page but it was suggested that one set would be sufficient, so I have changed it so they are just at the top. It was also suggested to have the full band name somewhere near the logo to make it clear. I haven't changed this yet but I will be testing it out to see if it works. It was also suggested to make the links move to the top of the page so they are always visible when scrolling. This is a good point but it may not be an issue as the pages will not be that long. The final comment was to have a submission section on the contact page. I was already thinking of doing this so its good to know other people think the same. I was asked if I am going to make the design responsive, I wasn't going to but I think it will be a good idea to as most websites nowadays are responsive.

DR ME Feedback
The session with Dr.ME today was good. I enjoyed making the vinyl cover above. The main things to take form the experience are how they got us to create the designs in a short timeframe, which is good for me as I think I need to improve my productivity. It was a nice change as well to do something that wasn't so concept based and more up for interpretation.

I had to put together a cv to send to Boxfresh regarding a work placement. I have requested to partake on the 19th/ 30th of January. HR replied to me and said that applications for 2015 start in November and to get back in touch nearer the time. Hopefully I will be able to require one in November otherwise I will be applying to other studios.
